GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION ABOUT THE "BIDEN SUMMIT" - APRIL 23rd 2021

On April 22nd and 23rd US President Biden is meeting with 40 global politicians, to discuss global action against climate change. The supposed goal of the summit is to intensify global efforts to limit global warming to 1,5°C and to prepare for the UN climate summit COP26.

Instead of giving a voice to MAPA (most affected peoples and areas) at this summit, only representatives from 40 governments will be there. The exclusion of countries from the global south takes responsibility from the global north to talk about the injustice created by the climate crisis. We need to end this elitist system rooted in colonialism and finally make justice possible! Voices of MAPA need to be amplified and actions need to replace the empty promises of all governments! #nomoreemptysummits

OUR DEMANDS

  • 1. Stop all subsidies for fossil fuels!
  •  
  • 2. Stop exploitation of the environment, especially in the global south, where the most affected areas are!
  •  
  • 3. Create targets and plans to reach net zero emissions and a mandatory CO2-Budget which respects global justice

SIGN THE PETITION "END THE BULLSHIT"

We are writing a letter to the leading politicians, especially US President Biden, the invited politicians and the heads of state of the countries in the global south and demand: End the Bullshit!
 
Based on the three demand mentioned, in this petition we make clear the need for  #NoMoreEmptyPromises and #NoMoreEmptySummits !

On April 23rd, join Fridays For Future in a digital version of the Physical Actions from above. We’ll protest Biden’s Summit by holding our own little Mock Summit, speaking the truth that the Heads of State at the Biden Summit aren’t saying and raising the voices of those that should have been heard at the Biden Summit.
